Ford Sales
Literature - Click
here to see a list of Ford Car Sales Literature
The Ford Motor Company created and published various kinds of automobile Sales Literature
to show off its exteriors, interiors, styles, accessories and options to the general
public. It depicted Fords in contemporary settings it thought would appeal to the
American public, and clothed its contented Ford owners in styles of the times. Most
automobile Sales Literature has large color pictures and text explaining the various
choices available for that model year, along with information about colors available and
general specifications of the engine, dimensions, etc. Not only is automobile Sales
Literature fun to collect and show with your car, but also, it can give you a useful
overview and details for restoration.
SALES BROCHURES: These are automobile brochures which can be from 4 to approximately 100
pages which open like a book and are profusely illustrated. The "Prestige" brochure is the largest and most exciting brochure printed
for that model year. Some brochures will be specific to only one model of automobile, some will cover the full line for that model year, and some
will cover accessories only.
SALES FOLDERS: These unfold like a map. Fully open, they become one large two-sided piece.
When fully open, they may be suitable for framing. Like sales brochures, some folders will cover only one model and some will cover the full
line of automobiles in that model year.
PRESS RELEASES: These consist of typed promotional pages explaining what was new and exciting
in automobiles for that model year. Frequently, the typed pages are packaged with 8 x 10 inch black and white glossy photos of the car or cars
being promoted. The information in these Press Releases was communicated to the public, but the Press Releases themselves were sent to television
and radio stations and not handed out to the general public. They are rather rare because they were frequently read then thrown away.
POST CARDS: These are colorful promotional pieces which vary in size and sometimes depict only
one model, sometimes the full line of automobiles for the model year. We have been able to find many postcards that are brand new and have never
actually been put in the mail.
POSTERS: These will be of varying sizes, some of heavier stock paper than others. Some will be
brand new, others will have seen some use on a dealer's wall. All will be suitable for framing and hanging.
ANNUAL REPORTS: These were published every year by
Ford Motor Company. In addition to
financial information about the corporation, they included the plans and projections for the next model year. Frequently, they contain a
description, along with illustrations, of the specific automobiles which will be coming out in the next model year.
